When times get tough, indulging in familiar favorite foods can provide solace. Nicolet Restaurant specializes in offering just that kind of fare.

The 22-year-old De Pere mainstay serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but its breakfast menu, served all day, is by far its most popular. Throughout the Safer at Home order, loyal customers continued to support the restaurant through carryout and delivery orders. Nicolet reopened for in-person dining in late May.

“You find out how loyal your customers really are and how generous they are because they’ve really kept us going,” says Keith Noskowiak, the restaurant’s owner.

Nicolet’s top seller is its Farmer’s Feed. It’s available in a single, double or triple version and features scrambled eggs, green peppers, onions, cheese, sausage, bacon, ham and hash browns topped with hollandaise sauce and served with choice of toast. Those with an ambitious appetite can try the Monster Omelet, which includes six eggs and a triple serving of the Farmer’s Feed fillings, topped with hollandaise and served with toast.

Favorites for lunch or dinner include the BLT Chicken Breast Sandwich, featuring chicken breast, bacon, spinach, tomato, provolone and a balsamic glaze on a ciabatta bun, and the Smoked Brisket Sandwich, served on a choice of homemade bread and topped with sharp cheddar, Onion Tanglers and the diner’s Kickin’ Bourbon BBQ Sauce.

Noskowiak says the restaurant’s comfort food menu, personalized service and the active role it plays in the community — donating items to schools, sports teams and charities — keep people coming back.
